 Dr. Antionette Ward

Is a Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner and a proud graduate of Emory University.  Her passion for diabetes education is deeply personal. Having type 2 diabetes she experienced a severe hospitalization due to sepsis and was subsequently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Now, she manages her Hgb A1C through diet, exercise, and GLP1 (Mounjaro). Her commitment to diabetes education ignited over 15 years ago during my doctoral studies at Mercer University, where she recognized the absence of a discharge protocol for newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients at Emory University hospital where she worked. This realization led to obtain she certification as a diabetes educator and collaborate with an endocrinologist to create an educational tool for those newly diagnosed—a tool that remains in use today. With over 30 years in healthcare, the majority in leadership roles, She will be an instructor for the Emergency Readiness course for the  MINDYOURBUSINESSTYPE2 academy. It empowers business owners and service providers to enhance their brand while promoting safety, healthy habits, and emergency preparedness—a truly innovative and beneficial program.

Dr. Antionette Ward

 Dr. Travan K. Jasper is a distinguished Emergency Medicine physician with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice, leadership, and community service. A graduate of Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, Dr. Jasper went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan/St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and has since become a board-certified physician in emergency medicine.

Dr. Jasper served as an attending physician at Emory University, where he not only practiced emergency medicine but also contributed to the training and mentorship of future physicians. His academic career extended to Mercer University School of Medicine, where he was an Assistant Professor, further enhancing his role in medical education.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Jasper has held prominent leadership roles, including Co-Facility Medical Director and Associate Medical Director at Fairview Park Hospital in Georgia, where he spearheaded quality improvement and patient care initiatives. His expertise spans trauma, advanced cardiac life support, and emergency department operations, with research interests that have contributed to advancements in emergency medicine.

Beyond his medical career, Dr. Jasper is deeply committed to community involvement. He co-founded the North Atlanta Orangemen, a local community organization dedicated to youth mentorship and development. As a lifelong member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, he has demonstrated a strong dedication to leadership, scholarship, and community service. Dr. Jasper has also co-founded the Jasper Scholarship, aimed at providing educational opportunities to students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Dr. Jasper’s passion for medicine, education, and community outreach makes him an invaluable faculty member at the **Mind Your Business Type2 Academy**, where he seeks to empower students with the skills and knowledge to make a lasting impact in healthcare. His decades of experience in emergency medicine, combined with his leadership and mentoring roles, reflect his commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting future generations of healthcare professionals.
 

Sonya H. Kobia, a Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, brings over a decade of experience in diabetes management, patient education, and chronic disease prevention. With a strong passion for empowering individuals to take control of their health, Sonya integrates evidence-based practices with motivational interviewing to deliver personalized, impactful care. Her leadership in clinical settings, combined with her proficiency in virtual healthcare and electronic medical records, positions her as a dynamic educator within the Mind Your Business Type 2 Academy. Sonya's expertise in diabetes education spans both individual and group settings, where she thrives on fostering deeper understanding and engagement in diabetes self-management. A dedicated advocate for health equity, Sonya also emphasizes cultural competence and community empowerment, aligning perfectly with the academy’s mission to address diversity in diabetes care and education.
